3 weeks!

Little Miss Callie is 3 weeks old today!!

We went to the Dr and she had a GREAT report. She's 5lb 6.5oz!! HOLY MOLY!! She gained 10oz in 7 days!! Even the dr was impressed! She doesn't go back to the dr. now until shes 2 months!!! And at that point, they'll give her shots... UGH!!!!!

20 days old!

OMG, my baby will be 3 weeks old tomorrow!! HOLYSHIT!! Time flies!!! We're going for yet another check up with the dr tomorrow so I'll do my best to get on and update this tomorrow!!!

All in all, everything is going really good. Callie is gaining weight (her cheeks are filling out and so are her legs and belly!) She's still teeny tiny, but to us, shes getting BIG!!! :-) Reminder, she was at 3lb 12oz at one point so as she heads towards 5lb, she just seems HUGE!

Im attaching a pic that Craig took on his cell phone... how stinking cute!! She smiles a lot when her eyes are shut and Im never quick enough to catch it, so Im sure happy that hes getting good at the picture game =)

Im still mending. Im a bit sore at times but for the most part Im doing really good!! Blood pressure still seems to be in check but they do have me on meds for it. I go back to the Dr on February 1 so I'll be antsy to see what he has to say!! And my #1 question for him is... Do I get to have more??

Couple New Pics

Here are some newer pics of our baby girl!!!!

Our first night home was good.... LONG but good!! Callie didn't want to sleep, she was in a new place and had a lot to take in so she was up most of the night. Mommy & Daddy are tired today but its totally worth it!!! Shes the apple of our eye!!!!

Cole did great with her being home!!! On the way home from the hospital, I sat in the backseat with her, and thought for sure Cole would sit up front with his daddy... but nope, he climbed in back and sat on the other side of his baby sister!! He was in shock at how little she actually was! Seeing him hold her, brought tears to my eyes! It was super priceless!!

All in all, we're doing great!! Being a family of 4 is awesome! Being a mom is the best feeling ever!

SHES HOME!!

Little Miss Callie is HOME!! She got released from the NICU at noon today and by1230pm she was in the comfort of her own home! Cole went with us to bring her home and what a great day for the Van Tornhout Family!!!!!! SHES HOME!!!!!!!!

Cole got to hold her today and that brought a tear to my eye!! He was super excited to have her home.... and already VERY protective!

I will work on posting new pics... I just have to take time from holding her to do it!! Not an easy task!!!

Shes home!!! We're not letting any visitors over yet until shes adjusted but once the weekend hits, we'll let family over and then go from there!!! Everyone will get a chance to visit her... just bare with us and understand that shes VERY fragile and we have to take extra precautions with her!!

saturday

well, its saturday and callie grace is doing wonderful!! shes in the room they call "continuing care" and this is the room that you stay in until you go home. so thats a step up from the critical room she was in!!

each night at bathtime, we get to weigh her and today her weight is at 4lb 5oz... her original birth weight!! She was as little as 3lb 13oz! So shes doing great!!! Shoot, she gained 8oz in the last 3 days!! GOOD GIRL!!

shes doing really good on her feedings and just really making us proud! the dr's are hoping to remove her feeding tube tomorrow or sunday. (she only has her feeding tube incase she has trouble with feedings, which isn't very often!) the dr said she COULD go home as early as Tuesday but definately by Friday! OMG our girl is coming home!

the nurse was telling my mom that even when Callie does get to come home, shes going to have to stay at home and not many visitors. her immune system is going to be weak because she is a premie and have to take it easy. our little girl is delicate!!! but just to be able to hold her AT HOME will be awesome!

craig has been awesome. i feel so bad for him because ive never seen him so worried before. not only about Callie, but also about me. on top of trying to make sure Cole doesn't feel neglected or pushed to the side. hes got a lot on his shoulders. he looks drained. poor guy. he's planning on coming home tomorrow for a few hours to watch the Steelers game.. I think he needs some alone time. Bless his heart.

all in all, everything is going well!! no setbacks and we'll be bringing a baby girl home!!! =)
