Notre Dame

OH yeah!! On Monday, July 26 I had a work dinner. I was in charge of helping plan our 2010 IT Employee Appreciation Dinner. It was held at Notre Dame and part of our event was to have a tour of the locker room, stadium and press box!! Here are some pictures to help you see behind the scenes at Notre Dame!

GO IRISH!!

So much to update you on!

I don't even know where to begin! Our life has been so hectic lately!!

First of all, I went to the doctor on Tuesday, July 27 and everything is PERFECT! The baby's heartbeat was 153 and we're just cruising through this pregnancy. Its awesome. I go for my next check up and ultrasound on August 23. So for now, we're GOOD!!!

Over the weekend, we were Jeff Gordons guests at the Brickyard 400... and what a whirlwind weekend that was!!

Thursday evening we were his guests at the Jeff Gordon Celebrity Bowling event. The event was packed with celebs. It was an HONOR to meet Jeff. He knew Callie by name and it was touching to hear him talk about her. He firmly believes in raising Pertussis awareness and that hits a softspot with us.

Friday we did a B-Roll shoot that will be send to media outlets nationwide to share Callie's story with the nation. It was a bittersweet thing to do... we love to talk about her and raise awareness but it brings back pain in our hearts. As you can imagine our emotions run wild.

Saturday we spent at the track. We got to watch qualifying and meet many famous faces! We also had a press conference and did media interviews. Again, very emotional, very bittersweet.

Sunday we spent at the track. Tours of the garages, pits, attended the drivers meeting and just had an awesome day. My parents came down and attended the race with us. They had a good time.

Tonight I am off to Carmel, IN for a photo shoot for the March of Dimes Mom of the Year Awards. WOW. What an honor. There are 10 moms going there so it will be neat to meet the other moms and get to know them. From what I hear, there are 3 more just from our area. Very neat.

This Saturday I am going to Chicago with my sisters to see Bon Jovi in concert. I can't wait!!

I will post some pictures for you to see from our weekend... for more photos, please find me on Facebook under Katie Court Van Tornhout!

I'll catch up with you next week!!

In hopes other parents won't have to go through what we did when we lost my precious Callie to pertussis, we am committed to sharing my experience with this devastating illness. That's why we've decided to work with March of Dimes and Sanofi Pasteur on the Sounds of Pertussis Campaign (www.SoundsofPertussis.com) to help raise awareness about pertussis. We are not compensated for my blog posts, but we are reimbursed for travel expenses when we do speaking engagements and media interviews on behalf of the Campaign.

Greetings

Sorry for the delay in the update... I have been super busy lately. UGH!!! But have no fear, Im giving you all the update now!!!

First off all, I went for an ultrasound on July 12th. Katie did the scan and I just love her. Shes so detailed and explains EVERYTHING!! Gotta love that. Our little stocking stuffer is about 9inches long and weighs about 6 ounces. WOW!! It's growing like crazy!!!! We got a 4-D ultrsound of the baby's back... look at how detailed it is!! For being so little, they sure do give you lots of detail!! You can see the back, arm, leg and the little butt! So stinking cute!!!

I go back to see Dr. DiGi on Tuesday, July 27th. That morning, we are stopping in Hammond for church. At my Auntie's church, they are doing a service for my Grandma for her birthday, so we'll go to mass before we go to the doctor!

Over the weekend my sister met up with her friend from Florida while she was visiting in town. She gave her a photo that her mother in law painted for us... just look at this:

Its gorgeous. She saw the photo we used in the South Bend Tribune back in March and just free handed it!! She put hands behind Callie to hold her... its just awesome. We have placed it on our shelf above the tv in the living room. I just love it. Thanks so much Tiffany!!!

On Friday, I received a phone call from the March of Dimes in Indianapolis. I have been selected as one of the top 10 finalist in the Indiana Mom of the Year awards. WHAT? I was shocked!! I was nominated by an annonymous source and am one of the finalists. OH MY GOODNESS!! What an honor!!! The dinner/event is held on Saturday, August 21 in downtown Indy. Social hour, dinner, ceremony & dancing. Its a formal affair. Im just in shock by this. Who would nominate ME?? And what have I done that is so special?? I just do what I think I should be doing for Miss Callie! What a true true honor!!!!

This weekend we are off to Indianapolis to do some work with the Sounds of Pertussis Campaign. We are leaving Thursday and back on Sunday. We're taking Cole with us as well!! We get to meet Jeff Gordon and be special guests at the Brickyard 400 on Sunday. WOW!! So many amazing opportunities we're given!!!!

I will be sure to take lots of pictures this weekend and do an update when we get back!!!!

Til next week..... enjoy!
