Greetings all!
I had two appointments this week and I gotta say, both went really well.
On Monday, I saw my new OB/GYN. Shes at the University of Chicago and Dr. Stephenson referred me to her. I was really nervous before my appointment. I am so use to seeing Dr. S that seeing someone new made me really uneasy. But she was GREAT!! Shes a bit on the gruff side but I really like her. She knows her stuff and I got along with her great. I asked a bunch of questions and she had answers for them all!!
The baby WILL be a scheduled c-section and will be during either the week of December 6 or December 13. Hurray!!! Im so happy I get to have another c-section. Sure the recovery is longer, but I dont want to push anything out of "down there" and I already have a scar, so why not go for it again! We'll be able to set the date as it gets closer and we see how the baby is doing!
We also got all my Genetics Test results back and everything came back negative!! So the baby is healthy!!
On Tuesday we met with Dr. Bakris, my blood pressure specialist, and he was THRILLED with how well everything is going. BP looks great and he doesn't want to see me until late August. Yippie! IF for some reason my pressure goes up, I can just call or email him and he can treat me from home. Oh wonderful!! Hes a good guy too!
So yeah, all in all, everything is going great!
On Saturday, we met my buddy Jen and her family for lunch in Warsaw. I hadn't seen them since Callies services but before that it was years ago! They live in Lexington, KY so it not like we can just hop in the car and run over anytime we want (although I wish we could!). Shes got a 4 year old Grace and a 5 month old Holtz. So stinking cute!! So we had lunch with them and her husband Evan. Good times! I love meeting up with her!! If you want to check out her blog, feel free its: http://grace-elise.blogspot.com/
Well, thats about it for now. Hope everyone is ready for a long holiday weekend!!
OH! My next U/S is on July 12 and then I see the Dr. again on July 27!
Enjoy!

Screening
Sorry for the delayed update from Monday's appointment. I guess I got sidetracked yesterday and didn't update the blog! Bad momma!
Anyway, Monday we went to the doctor for our Genetics Testing. Its pretty easy stuff, since it's just blood work and a detailed ultrasound. The blood work would check for our chances to have a baby with Down Syndrome and Trisomy 18. We also elected to get tested for Cystic Fibrosis. The ultrasound was to check the fluid behind the babys neck... make sure theres not too much and not too little.
During the ultrasound our little stocking stuffer was being stubborn! At first the baby was moving all over. Legs and arms just a flying all over! Then the baby's head kept jerking back... which freaked my mom out (she was in there with me) but the baby had hiccups!! The u/s tech had a HARD time getting the fluid reading on the back of the neck because the baby didnt' want to cooperate. When they pushed on my belly trying to get the baby to move, it just put its hand up and like pushed back. It was cute. They finally did get the reading but after 45 minutes in the exam room!
Also during the u/s we could see all sorts of organs and even the eye sockets & nose. The little peanut is really starting to look like a baby!!!
I met with my doctor and as of Monday, we have "graduated" from her care. When we were pregnant with Callie, she turned me over to Dr. Gruszynski here in South Bend, but this time she turned me over to an OB/GYN there at University of Chicago. This new doctor is a high risk doctor that Dr. Stephenson raves about. So she'll be my new doctor. Dr. S will still keep tabs on me and we'll see her as well since shes in the same part of the hospital but this Dr. DiGi will be my primary doctor now. I will get to meet her next Monday at my next appointment.
We are 13weeks 4days today... wow!! It seems to be going by so fast this time.
I need to post pictures for you but for some reason it wont let me. I'll keep playing with it and try to post the ultrasound pics!
Until next week...

Welcome to the 2nd Trimester!
Well, we made it! We are 12weeks and 2 days... officially in our 2nd trimester! WOW, I feel like it flew by so far!! This is only the second time we've made it this far, and the last time was when I was pregnant with my precious Callie Grace.
Im feeling good, for the most part. I still get tired a lot and I feel like Im ALWAYS hungry! However, I haven't gained any weight yet so GO KATIE GO! My belly has a nice baby bump and I dont fit in anything but maternity clothes. I love being pregnant.
I go back to Chicago next Monday, the 21st. That is my screening appointment. Because Im "older" they do all sorts of genetic screening. Plus, I get a very in depth ultrasound so Im all excited. I love to see the little rockstar on the screen!
We're still hooked on Benjamin for a boy and Chesney for a girl!! And NO!!! We're not finding out!! Everyone keeps asking "When will you find out the sex" and my answer is "When he or she is born!!!" People just can't believe we don't want to know!! But sorry, we dont!! It was soooo much fun having the suspense last time!! So yeah, you can all get your baby pools going!!! Since we'll be a scheduled c-section, you can all take guesses at the weight, length and the gender! Happy guessing! LOL
Not too much to update you on today. Just taking it easy and enjoying the pregnancy days!!!!
I'll give you an update next week after my appointment.

Another visit
Well, I had another visit in Chicago on Wednesday. We met with my doctor and had another ultrasound!
The baby is getting big!! Its actually starting to look like a baby instead of just a blob! I got some really REALLY good ultrasound pictures but for some reason I can't get this blog to upload them right. So I'll play with that over the weekend and see if I can get it to work.
On the ultrasound we could see both legs, feet, arms, hands, eyes, ears and just well, everything!!! There is definately a baby in there. The heartbeat was at 143 and going strong.
I met with Dr. Stephenson and she is impressed with how well we're doing!! Im so happy that shes so happy! She said everything looks "perfect". Thats what I like to hear.
I go back on June 21st for my first trimester screening. I had this done with Callie as well, and its just some blood work and a very detailed ultrasound to check for the chance of birth defects. Since Im not a "spring chicken" anymore, the doctors thought it would be good for us do to the screening. No problems.
Then on June 28th I meet with my new doctor. I'll graduate from Dr. Stephensons care and see a high risk OB there in Chicago. Im a little nervous but since Dr. S referred me, Im sure she'll be a great doctor. Dr. S will still keep tabs on us and we'll see her from time to time with the pregnancy too! Then on June 29 I will see Dr. Bakris again for my blood pressure. Oh boy! Lots of visits.
All in all everything is GREAT!! Ive got a belly and Im loving being pregnant. I think I was born to be pregnant!! I just wish Callie & my grandparents were here to go through it with me! Atleast they're watching from above!
Take care... until next time.....
