Screening

Sorry for the delayed update from Monday's appointment. I guess I got sidetracked yesterday and didn't update the blog! Bad momma!

Anyway, Monday we went to the doctor for our Genetics Testing. Its pretty easy stuff, since it's just blood work and a detailed ultrasound. The blood work would check for our chances to have a baby with Down Syndrome and Trisomy 18. We also elected to get tested for Cystic Fibrosis. The ultrasound was to check the fluid behind the babys neck... make sure theres not too much and not too little.

During the ultrasound our little stocking stuffer was being stubborn! At first the baby was moving all over. Legs and arms just a flying all over! Then the baby's head kept jerking back... which freaked my mom out (she was in there with me) but the baby had hiccups!! The u/s tech had a HARD time getting the fluid reading on the back of the neck because the baby didnt' want to cooperate. When they pushed on my belly trying to get the baby to move, it just put its hand up and like pushed back. It was cute. They finally did get the reading but after 45 minutes in the exam room!

Also during the u/s we could see all sorts of organs and even the eye sockets & nose. The little peanut is really starting to look like a baby!!!

I met with my doctor and as of Monday, we have "graduated" from her care. When we were pregnant with Callie, she turned me over to Dr. Gruszynski here in South Bend, but this time she turned me over to an OB/GYN there at University of Chicago. This new doctor is a high risk doctor that Dr. Stephenson raves about. So she'll be my new doctor. Dr. S will still keep tabs on me and we'll see her as well since shes in the same part of the hospital but this Dr. DiGi will be my primary doctor now. I will get to meet her next Monday at my next appointment.

We are 13weeks 4days today... wow!! It seems to be going by so fast this time.

I need to post pictures for you but for some reason it wont let me. I'll keep playing with it and try to post the ultrasound pics!

Until next week...
